Enhancing waste degradation and biogas production by pre-digestion with a hyperthermophilic anaerobic bacterium

چکیده
The hyperthermophilic anaerobic bacterium, Caldicellulosiruptor bescii, is effective in degrading and solubilizing lignocellulosic materials. Laboratory studies have characterized the chemistry of process for crystalline cellulose switchgrass, but data are insufficient engineering commercial plants to use C. bescii pre-digestion waste streams. purpose this study three-fold: 1) identify any potential toxicities biogas production from several wastes; 2) determine enhancement by digestion pre-digested dairy manure activated sludge; 3) variables that must be quantified controlled commercial, continuous-flow systems disposal incorporating pre-digestion. Tests were run at lab-, bench- pilot plant-scale with C.bescii controls 75°C pH 7-8 followed mesophilic 37-41°C. lab- bench-scale tests demonstrate capable growing on organic wastes increases conversion into biogas, typically a factor 2 or more. Incorporation an optimized system predicted provide 75-85% volatile solids 75% methane when digesting sewage sludge. Achieving these results scale requires further work quantify growth enzyme rates, as well rates base- enzyme-catalyzed hydrolysis polymeric materials, e.g., lignocellulose, order optimize retention times.

2. Production of Biogas by Anaerobic Digestion
Anaerobic digestion is a natural process in which bacteria convert organic materials into biogas. It occurs in marshes and wetlands, and in the digestive tract of ruminants. The bacteria are also active in landfills where they are the principal process degrading landfilled food wastes and other biomass. Biogas can be collected and used as a potential energy resource. The process occurs in an an...

anaerobic digestion of slaughterhouse solid waste for the optimization of biogas production
anaerobic digestion is a feasible technology to stabilize the solid waste generated inslaughterhouses obtaining significant quantities of biogas, considered as a clean and renewable fuel. this iswhy it is important to optimize the digestion process in order to eliminate organic matter and maximize theproduction of biogas. in this work, a system was developed for treating slaughterhouse solid wa...
متن کاملAnaerobic Treatment and Biogas Production from Organic Waste
Organic wastes under consideration are of natural origin that possess biochemical characteristics ensuring rapid microbial decomposition at relatively normal operating conditions. When considering the organic waste treatment we have generally in mind organic mineralization, biological stabilisation and detoxification of pollutants. Most common organic wastes contain compounds that are mainly we...
متن کاملEffect of Physical and Chemical Operating Parameters on Anaerobic Digestion of Manure and Biogas Production: A Review
Introduction: The need for food produced from animal husbandry has made it a growing industry which result in increment of livestock waste. On the basis of environmental and economic considerations, these materials require treatment and management. Anaerobic digestion and creation of biogas are the most effective methods of waste management. Several parameters affect the anaerobic digestion of ...
